Brief: Analyze the current state of functional floss packaging and consumer reactions. Develop a new premium floss package with an emphasis on design for assembly.

After several dozen interviews, it became apparent that consumers wanted to be able to view the floss within the package. This was compounded by the desire among men and children for a fun shaped package with a unique mechanism.

I decided to style this piece as a high-tech nautilus shell in order to emphasize the technical superiority of the floss while also implying that the product is both feminine and caring. Furthermore, the form is own-able and fun.

Through several rounds of sketching and modeling, I discovered that the most effective way to reduce costs while fulfilling the consumer needs was to make the window and the cover one in the same piece. Additionally, by allowing the cover to swing around the center shaft, we can use a more rigid clear material for the cover while reducing the number of high-tolerance fits in the overall design.
