Flamina Bosco: Pee-on-a-tree Urinal
Brief: Create bathroom amenities for an airport. Focus should be on creating a welcoming user experience for the various cultures found in transit.
This was the first piece we developed for the Flamina Bosco line. While the concept of a tree shaped urinal recieved an overwhelmingly positive reaction, developing the form itself was a great challenge. We wanted to present the tree in a convienent form without over extending the metaphore. We turned to one of our inspirational images: an installation by Job Koelewijn where nature is presented through a square hole in the wall. Our interpretation: a sculpted tree trunk within a simple rational white frame.
