Flamina Bosco: Terra Showerplate
Brief: Create bathroom amenities for an airport. Focus should be on creating a welcoming user experience for the various cultures found in transit.
Much of this exploration was about the perception of cleanliness. As with the forest, airports are communal spaces. In either space, moving water can make us feel clamer. However, when water collects, pools and stands, the reaction is disgust. The Terra showerplate takes it's cue from the forest floor where water spreads out in order to absorb into the ground and drain away. The graduated steps on the center plate offer a safe surface to stand and allow the water to drain to the outer cracks. Once it has has drained from view, the water collects in the lower plate and passes through a central drain.
